Introduction

In recent years, Afrocentric campaigns have escalated, seeking to distort Egyptian history and steal its cultural identity for the benefit of dubious agendas. This movement, which claims that ancient Egyptian civilization was entirely Black African, is not based on any archaeological, genetic, or historical evidence. Instead, it relies on falsification, deception, and ideological support from dubious entities that aim to separate Egypt from its true identity.

What is Afrocentricism?

Afrocentricism, or Africanism, is an ideological movement that originated in the West, particularly in the United States, and aims to rewrite history so that all great civilizations are portrayed as Black African, whether Egyptian civilization or other civilizations such as the Mayans in Latin America. This movement does not seek the truth, but rather imposes a false identity on the history of indigenous peoples.

Fraud and Forgery in Afrocentric Narratives

Distortion of Archaeological Evidence:

All genetic and anthropological evidence confirms that the ancient Egyptians were genetically closest to modern Egyptians and were not from sub-Saharan Africa.

Recently analyzed royal mummies have shown genetic similarity to North African and Near Eastern populations, refuting Afrocentric claims.

Falsifying Images and Statues:

Afrocentric proponents rely on image manipulation and altering the colors of ancient Egyptian statues, presenting them in a darker color to mislead the public into believing that the ancient Egyptians were of the Negroid race.

They forget that the color black was a religious symbol in ancient Egypt, representing fertility and renewal, and not a sign of race.

Confusing Identity and Geographical Boundaries:

Afrocentrics claim that Egypt is part of Africa, and therefore the ancient Egyptians must have been Black Africans, ignoring the fact that North Africa has always been home to Mediterranean civilizations and mixed peoples.

Egyptian civilization is not an extension of sub-Saharan African civilizations, but rather has its own unique cultural and civilizational specificity.

Afrocentric Supporters

Suspicious Western Organizations:

Afrocentric campaigns are funded by American and Western organizations working to reshape Egyptian identity according to agendas that serve their interests.

Hollywood and Western media promote these lies through films and TV series that portray the pharaohs as Black, as in the movie Cleopatra, which angered Egyptians.

Political Lobby Groups:

There are attempts to use Afrocentricity as a soft weapon against Egyptian identity, with the aim of separating Egypt from its Arab and Mediterranean history and reshaping its cultural identity.

Black Activists in the West:

Some activists in the United States, under the umbrella of human rights movements, support these claims as part of their attempts to create a false history of Black people in the ancient world, at the expense of scientific truth.

Why are they targeting Egypt specifically?

Because it is the oldest and greatest civilization in history, and some want to rewrite it to their advantage.

Because it represents a symbol of Egyptian national identity, and attempts to distort it aim to undermine this strong connection between Egyptians and their civilization.

Because it enjoys global standing, and if they succeed in changing its narrative, they will be able to change the concept of global history.

How do we confront Afrocentricity?

✅ Disseminate scientific evidence: Support historical facts with genetic and anthropological research that proves the true origins of the ancient Egyptians.
✅ Media awareness: Confront falsehoods through educational content on social media and expose forgeries with evidence.
✅ Pressure cultural institutions: such as UNESCO and international museums to prevent the promotion of false versions of Egyptian history.
✅ Strengthen national identity: Teach new generations their true history to protect them from misleading propaganda.

Conclusion

Afrocentricity is not just an ideological movement; it is a misleading propaganda campaign aimed at stealing Egypt’s cultural identity. Egyptians must be constantly vigilant against these attempts and defend their history by all possible means. Egyptian civilization belongs to its people, and they will not allow it to be stolen or distorted by counterfeiters!
